FAQ - Linking

Q. How do I link to a PDF document or a MS Word file.  

First step is to prepare the PDF/word file, you will need to check if the file name contains any spaces, if it does you will need to rename it.
1. right-click on the file name
2. select rename from the menu
3. delete any spaces
4. then press enter

Now put the file on the website:

1. Go to your website and log into Site Editor
2. Click on the page, then type: click here to view the ___document.
3. Highlight the words ‘click here’
4. Select the Hyperlink Button ()
5. A box will pop up, down the bottom click the 'Browse' button.
6. Now locate the file on your computer
7. Select it, and press ok
8. Now press the ‘Upload’ Button.
9. When it is finished uploading tick the box that says 'Open in new window'
10. Press ok
11. Save the page

Q. How do I create a text link? 

  1. Select the text that you want to turn into a link.
  2. Click on the 'Hyperlink' button.
  3. From the drop down box select the page you want to link to or type in an address of a website in the URL field.
  4. Click ok

The pop-up window has the following options:

  • Enter URL - If you wish to link to another Web page on another site, enter the complete URL here, in the following format: 'http://www.somesite.com/somepage.html'. Please make sure to include the 'http://'.
     
    You are also provided with an option to open the link in a new window. If you tick the 'Open in a new window' box, a new browser window will open when visitors click on this link and the linked page will be loaded into this new window.
     
  • OR select page - Select an existing page on your site to link to.
     
  • OR upload file - You can link to a pdf or doc file by browsing your hard drive and uploading a file to link to. Note, the file cannot be larger in size than 1mb. This size limit is set to prevent visitors getting frustrated trying to download very large files.

Q. How do I change a Link?

After you have created a link you can change it by selecting the linked text and clicking on the 'Hyperlink' button again.

Q. How do I link to another website

  • Simply type in the website address on the page
  • & press enter.
  • The text will automatically become a link.

Q. How to link within the same page (jump down the page)

  1. First highlight the piece of text half way down the page you want to jump to.
  2. Click the Hyperlink button ()
  3. In the URL field type in # followed by a few word no spaces to describe what your're linking to.
    Example:  #product_1
  4. Press ok.
  5. Now return to the top of your page and type a few words you want people to click.
    Example:  Click here to go to Product 1.
  6. Highlight "click here"
  7. Click the Hyperlink button ()
  8. Type in the page number you are on followed by # and the name of your link.
    Example: page22.php#product_1
  9. Press ok.
  10. Save & Exit to test your link.

Q. How to link from an Image

Please note you can't use a thumbnail to link to other pages.

  1. Click directly on the photo you want to link
  2. Press the hyperlink button
  3. Select the page you want to link to
  4. Press ok.

Q. How do I add a new button to my menu?

A. The buttons on your menu are graphics that need to be created by an OzeClick designer.  We create these buttons free of charge, simply send us an email with the name of the button you would like and where you want it to appear in the menu.

Q. How do I create an RSS Feed?

An RSS feed is simply a special type of XML file (eg: my_feed.xml). You can create this file using the link below and then upload it just like a PDF document (see top-most FAQ on this page) and create a link to it on your site.
